Ven.Debarawea Kovida Thero


Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero Born at Debarawea, Tissamahārāmaya in the District of Hambantota in Sri Lanka, Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero, entered the monastic life at the age of 13, on 26th of April, 2002 at the feet of Venerable Ahangama Rathansiri Nayaka Thero, the Viharadhipathy of both Jayasumanārāmaya at Goviyapana, Ahangama, Sri Lanka and Toronto Mahavihāra at Toronto, Canada. His primary monastic education was received at Nalanda Dharmayatanaya, Colombo from 2002 to 2006. He has successfully completed the Prāchīna Final Examination (Pundit) at the Sri Dharmapāla Mahā Privena in Colombo during 2007 - 2010 period. He received Higher Ordination on 8th of July 2011 at Sri Vajiragnana Dhammayatanaya, Maharagama with Most Venerable Aggamaha Pandita Weligama Gnanaratana Thero as the Preceptor. Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero arrived at Toronto Mahavihara on 17th February, 2012, on the invitation of Toronto Mahavihara Society and will participate in all the religious services at Toronto Mahavihara.

Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero

   Born at Debarawea, Tissamahārāmaya in the District of Hambantota in Sri Lanka, Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero, entered the monastic life at the age of 13, on 26th of April, 2002 at the feet of Venerable Ahangama Rathansiri Nayaka Thero, the Viharadhipathy of both Jayasumanārāmaya at Goviyapana, Ahangama, Sri Lanka and Toronto Mahavihāra at Toronto, Canada. His primary monastic education was received at Nalanda Dharmayatanaya, Colombo from 2002 to 2006.

   He has successfully completed the Prāchīna Final Examination (Pundit) at the Sri Dharmapāla Mahā Privena in Colombo during 2007 - 2010 period.

   He received Higher Ordination on 8th of July 2011 at Sri Vajiragnana Dhammayatanaya, Maharagama with Most Venerable Aggamaha Pandita Weligama Gnanaratana Thero as the Preceptor.

   Venerable Debarawea Kovida Thero arrived at Toronto Mahavihara on 17th February, 2012, on the invitation of Toronto Mahavihara Society and will participate in all the religious services at Toronto Mahavihara.
